Packing for Your Child (Ukraine Specific)

Unless you are pursuing a known child, it would be impossible to pack ahead of time. However, you could still pack some non-gender, age appropriate items. If you will be adopting a toddler, you may want things like: one sippy-cup, snack holders (even if they are little baggies), crayons and coloring book, and pull-ups or diapers (only if child is 3 and under).

For children of all ages you can pre-pack their toothbrush, age appropriate toothpaste, deodorant (if necessary), and age appropriate bath items. Of course, these things are not that expensive in Ukraine so they could be purchased very reasonably while there. Note that deodorant is not a commonly used toiletry item and may be somewhat difficult to find.

Unfortunately, unless one of you is traveling back home between your court date and the date you pick up your child/ren from the orphanage; most all of your basic items (to get the children home) will have to be purchased in Ukraine.

Clothes are expensive there so if purchasing clothing for them in Ukraine is unavoidable; try to get by with 2 outfits, one pair of shoes and something to sleep in.
